Lubomír Kuča is the founder of Maalström Studio, a Prague-based woodcraft studio creating hand-turned objects with strong emotional and material presence. His work transforms discarded and imperfect wood into lasting objects that honour simplicity, imperfection and quiet material stories.
Turned from green birch, the vessel continues an exploration of interior and exterior through a lateral opening that reveals the inner volume from the side, evoking the exposed interior of a ruin. The form expands subtly toward the base, emphasizing grounding and architectural presence. The surface was left minimal to preserve the wood’s natural character. The material comes from a tree felled due to planned construction.
