The Salty Fairy Ring series was inspired by Jihyun Kim’s grandmother’s ritual of placing a small ceramic jar of salt near the entrance of their home in South Korea, believed to protect the household from negative energy and evil spirits. Kim combines this tradition with the mystical associations of fairy rings—circular formations of mushrooms long linked to folklore and superstition. The resulting works, titled Salty Fairy Ring/Vase/Vessel/Danji, Enoki, are a series of salt containers that evoke a sense of ritual and quiet magic.
