Still, Yet Flow explores how movement within material can be revealed through the process of making. Beginning with etched copper sheets, shaped through hammering, raising and repeated annealing, Lee responds to the metal’s reactions to pressure, heat and time rather than imposing a predetermined form, embracing the distortions and ruptures that emerge as it moves from flat sheet to vessel.
The resulting forms carry traces of this negotiation, reflecting her interest in copper as a material capable of holding transformation and memory.
