Ruben van Megen graduated from the Design Academy in Eindhoven in 2012, with the focus ‘public space’. Prior to this, he studied at the HMC (Hout- en Meubileringscollege), a famous furniture and interior design college in Rotterdam. Ruben's fascination for developing new materials lead him to develop a unique and instantly recognisable style, which catalysed the launch of his studio, Atelier Ruben van Megen, which is known for the quality of its output. As well as producing work in-studio, the team collaborates with regional companies, as well as taking part in Design events and leading lectures.
Acknowledgment of the ‘Atelier Ruben van Megen-style’ became reality when the dining table from 'Café 6116', Ruben's second furniture collection, earned a Red Dot Award; one of the most prestigious international labels for high quality design. The work of Atelier Ruben van Megen has an international presence, having appeared in the Salone del Mobile in Milano, New York Design Week, the London Design Festival and Dutch Design Week.
