Sofia Águas
Sofia Águas is a Lisbon-based ceramic artist and designer whose work explores the intersection of tactility, form, and emotional resonance through hand-built clay. Trained across Portugal, Spain, the UK, and Chile, her practice is grounded in both traditional craftsmanship and contemporary sculptural design.
Her body of work includes sculptural vases, ceramic coffee tables, lamps and stools, created as unique, raw-toned pieces that play with volume, balance, and organic minimalism. Each work is built slowly by hand, embracing the imperfections and tensions that give clay its expressive power.
Sofia’s work has been shown internationally, including at Révélations (Paris), Ceramic Art London, Future Icons Selects (London), Pott Gallery (Madrid), Studio Khola (Lisbon Design Week) and also at Decorex (London), Homeing (Lisbon), Hangzhou Cultural & Creative Industry Expo (China), among others.
