1282 Chair

Inspired by Welsh stick chairs, The 1282 chair emphasises the value of historical and cultural influences in design strategy. The design approach tackles modern ergonomic challenges, using the unique arm height of traditional stick chairs. Stainless steel is utilised to enhance the chair’s modern edge, durability, and longevity. Historical research underpins the project, driving ergonomic innovation, as well as material process. This project invites the viewer to question: What else is there to be learned from the past? What narratives, materials or processes are waiting to be re-discovered?
