BioRock is a regenerative material that is grown from the sea using a process similar to coral polyps. The process works by applying a low voltage current into mineral rich seawater through an anode and cathode. This causes small layers of minerals to accrete onto the cathode, creating a rock-like material composed mainly of Calcium Carbonate. While underwater the objects helps to provide a habitat for marine life, encourage coral growth, improve water quality and protect against coral erosion. This project was carried out in Lombok, Indonesia, starting in March 2024 and ending in July 2025.
Please note this piece is display only. The lead time for orders will be approximately 1-2 years due to the piece being reliant on a natural production process.
