Bernard Heesen is an Artist specialising in Glasswork, his studio is based out of the glassworks in De Oude Horn which were founded by his father Willem Heesen in 1977. A true innovator, Heesen brings creativity to the Leerdam glass tradition, allowing chance to contribute to the shape and expression of his products during the creative process.
These unique vases are meticulously crafted by layering two vases together so that one encases the other. During this process whereby one molten hot glass presses against aanother, the inner layer cracks. By heating these cracks immediately as they form Bernard melts them together. This is where the name of the collection ‘Broken and Repaired’ derives.
