This figurine was inspired by a Meissen figurine from the 18th century. The artist has reimagined this piece into the modern role of a mother in the twenty-first century. The figurine depicts a woman who is under social pressure to achieve a certain ideal. The artist deftly depicts the various roles played by mothers in the past and present. Today's mother must be multifunctional; she must care for her children, work, cook, clean, and take care of herself. The piece highlights modern women's unrealistic expectations.
