‘Shaping Methods’ is an experimental glass-blowing project that explores alternative moulding techniques, resulting in two collections of irregular, geometric vases. In order to reverse the classical process, we designed the form that can be modified right before blowing the glass. This is done by using a wooden frame with interchangeable, movable parts, allowing real-time adjustments to shape, proportions, and function. This flexibility creates two distinct arrangements: a regular grid resembling a chequered pattern and an asymmetrical design of irregular solids. By testing the limits of glass, the project produces unique, small-batch pieces, emphasising craftsmanship and individuality over mass production while honouring traditional glass-making techniques.
