Staple

Dirk van Der Kooij is a Dutch designer who founded his studio in 2009 out of the basement of Design Academy Eindhoven. Since then, the studio has produced a curated range of furniture; guided by his sourced materials of repurposed plastics and appliances, Kooij seamlessly harmonises thoughtfully carried out design with innovative material research.
Kooij celebrates the qualities recycled plastic offers, such as the ability to bend without sacrificing structural integrity. The Staple is multifunctional as a stool or side table, the understated U-shape places expressive patterning at the fore. Free from joins or reinforcements, the Staple embraces plastic’s ability to stand alone as a mono-material.
