Qianru Huang, founder of Reartier, skillfully weaves together four disciplines—ceramics, kintsugi, jewelry, and weaving—within the art of restoration, transcending the traditional boundaries of artifact repair.
In her Stellarum series, Huang reimagines porcelain forms through bead embroidery, fusing disparate materials to evoke the resonance between shattered porcelain and cosmic explosions. Metallic threads connect beads and shards along paths that mirror the orbits of stars, guiding a dialogue between past and future and weaving time and memory into luminous creations.
The repair technique originates from bead embroidery and evolves into a unique method of copper wire bead weaving, where copper threads trace stellar trajectories. Each piece is assigned a unique number derived from a nebula—an echo of cosmic order amid randomness. Regardless of the arrangement of shape or color, a corresponding nebula can always be found, reflecting the fascinating unpredictability inherent in creation itself.
