Kawabata collaborates with artisans of Khayamiya, a traditional Egyptian appliqué technique at risk of disappearing. Through this collaboration, contemporary visual language enters into dialogue with generations of accumulated knowledge, exploring how traditional craft can continue to evolve across cultures and time. Across multiple geographies, her work connects tradition and innovation, proposing new possibilities for craft within a contemporary global context.
