To Put Two and Two Together
Nova Smith
This set of pieces is designed to be used collectively as placeholders at a silver service. The candles will burn for approximately 40 minutes. Traditionally, the lighting of a dinner is static, often a bold centrepiece, but untouchable and isolated from the dinner guests. The aim of her placeholders is to provide each guest with their own lighting that is theirs to interact and play with as they choose. Individually, each piece represents a single form of a dining experience, loosely based on number idioms. The ‘To Put Two and Two Together’ placeholder is intended to be used at a dinner for four, two couples. Each couple receives a piece which they then use to converse and argue with the pair opposite (or each other!).
