This collection draws inspiration from Liz's numerous visits to India, where research plays a pivotal role in her creative process. The shoes are influenced by the intricate beauty of miniature Indian Mughal paintings she encountered in their museums. Renowned for its handcrafted paper, India became a source of materials for Liz, who gathered these unique papers from Mumbai and Pondicherry. The distinct shape of traditional Indian shoe lasts, markedly different from Western forms, also inspired her design approach. To honour this cultural distinction, she commissioned custom-made lasts specifically for this range.
