The Lazy Swim collection artistically explores places of longing, dream worlds and places of leisure. It uses the shapes and furnishings of a pool landscape and employs them as vocabulary. The collection reveals the Proustian character of objects, their ability to evoke memories or inspire dreams. The most fascinating piece in the series is undoubtedly the Towel Stool. It consists of five to six towels meticulously stacked on top of each other. Only interaction with them breaks the seemingly banal scene, revealing its artificiality and the gap between meaning and name.
Each of the towels is a painting, 32 x 55 inches. Stretched onto a wooden frame, the painting surface is a technical fabric with holes through which silicone is pressed. Each of these individual works is then cut out of its frame and folded like a towel. Individual milled plywood panels are inserted between them and screwed together, and finally all open edges are sewn by hand. Thus every towel is unique, as is every stool. For this reason, each one is marked with a plaque on which a number is stamped manually.
